James Marvel
I'm James Marvel — a former Major League Baseball player, Duke University graduate, and founder of Marvel Mentorship & Advisory. I spent the first 30 years of my life chasing a dream across every level of organized baseball, from youth and elite travel ball to the ACC, through the minor leagues, to the Major Leagues, and all the way to Japan. What shaped me the most wasn't the career highlights — it was everything I went through along the way.
Today, I use baseball to help young men grow into the best versions of themselves — on and off the field.

In the increasingly complex and overwhelming world of high school baseball, families are drowning — in information, in conflicting advice, in social media comparison, and in the fear of making the wrong choices during the most developmentally critical years of a young man's life.
Families invest heavily in hitting coaches, pitching lessons, travel ball programs, showcases, and recruiting services, but they rarely have a strategic partner and advisor who has walked the same path they are on.

I prepare for every family I work with the same way I prepared for every start in my career — thoroughly, intentionally, and without cutting corners. Nobody in the stands saw the work behind the outing. Nobody in the meeting sees the work behind the conversation. I'm constantly studying, building relationships, and showing up in rooms that make me better for the families I serve. The families I work with give me their trust, a responsibility I don't take lightly. They deserve my very best, and my very best is what I promise.

Once we've agreed to work together, the real work begins. I build a personalized strategic roadmap around the player's specific situation — no recycled programs, no one-size-fits-all playbook. Developed collaboratively with the player and family.
